When you’re booking your wedding photographer, an engagement session might be a second thought. I’m here to tell you, though, that you should do it. An engagement session is the perfect way to bond with your photographer pre-wedding. Between all chaos of back to back weddings, summer engagement photos are a great way to just get creative and have fun.
SUMMER ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS AT SKYLAND’S MANOR
This particular engagement session took place on a super sunny, hot, July afternoon. The grounds of the Manor made for the perfect environment, despite the heat.
There was plenty of space to explore and get so many versatile images, perfect for Save the Dates.
If you’re feeling a little nervous about having to get in front of the camera on your wedding day, book an engagement session. You’ll get a first-hand look at what it’s like to compose an image; that way, you’ll be familiar with what to do come wedding day.
We can also talk you through all the “what do I do with my hands” moments you might have. The engagement session is mostly about capturing all the little ways you interact with your partner — we won’t over-direct.
WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION?
We’ll make a more in-depth post about this soon, but for summer photo sessions specifically, bright colors and patterns are always welcome.
Also! Be sure you’re comfortable in whatever outfit you choose — it’ll be HOT out. Let me know if you want me to bring a mini fan and spray bottle. I’ll gladly oblige.
I'm melissa -- mel, for short. i'm an aries, lover of 60s and 70s music & aesthetics, and i can (probably) quote 90% of breaking bad.
I think the most important thing when photographing your wedding is getting to know you as individuals, and as a couple. Too often, photographers will apply a "one size fits all" approach; but photos and poses that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's my job to adapt to you, not the other way around.
