When Spring and Summer roll around, I can promise you one thing: I will be at the beach. And what better reason to be at the beach than for a surprise proposal and engagement shoot? In particular, Asbury Park beach in NJ is an iconic spot for a proposal/engagement photo shoot.
WANT BEACH ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS?
I had such a blast photographing this beach proposal at Asbury park, so you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll do it again.
Having an engagement session at the beach is incredibly fun, whimsical, and makes for some great candids.
For example: wind got the hair in your face? Your partner can lovingly sweep it aside.
I believe those can’t-be-planned candid moments are some of the best, especially during an engagement photo session. It can be difficult to “produce” candids during an engagement shoot, since there are no other moving parts like during a wedding day. However, when you’re at the beach, there are SO many interactive elements that can be used in photos. It is highly encouraged to have a little picnic, splash around in the water, take a stroll along the sand/boardwalk, etc. It’s a great environment to foster loving, tender, intimate moments.
I'm melissa -- mel, for short. i'm an aries, lover of 60s and 70s music & aesthetics, and i can (probably) quote 90% of breaking bad.
I think the most important thing when photographing your wedding is getting to know you as individuals, and as a couple. Too often, photographers will apply a "one size fits all" approach; but photos and poses that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's my job to adapt to you, not the other way around.
