When we’re not in the city for engagement sessions, we’re in NY state. Park engagement photos are classic, and they don’t have to be cliche either. One of our favorite spots for our Bronx/New Rochelle folks is Twin Lakes County Park.
On a beautiful – and hot – summer day like this one, park engagement photos offer the perfect balance of some time in the sun *and* plenty of shade.
There are plenty of benefits to having an engagement session. It allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera — I promise you’re not awkward in photos, btw. You also have the chance to get to know your photographer a bit more. Plus, there’s an inside-look at what makes a great photo, so you can be prepared come wedding day.
I always bring an extra jacket or a picnic blanket to photo sessions when I know we will be outside. In case there are no benches, an old jacket/blanket is the most comfortable way to pop a squat.
Another thing — bring two pairs of shoes. You may have to do a little walking, and no one wants your good shoes sinking into mud or getting wet!
Lastly, if you have any music you want playing to get you even more comfy in front of the camera, let us know! Happy to have a playlist blasting to get you to let loose a little.
We're Sava, a small studio of photographers who bonded over our similar educational background, love of art, & general affinity for timeless wedding photos. Based in NYC, will travel, will pick up your coffee order on the way.
