Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you cant take the engagement photos of your dreams. One of my favorite places as of recently is Ladies’ Pavilion in Central Park. Not only is it perfect for an engagement session, but also it’s totally ideal for a quick little elopement. From the lake to the iconic Bow Bridge, there are plenty of great little spots for photos.
What to wear for your engagement photos
I’m one of those people that feels like it’s exponentially harder to look cute in the colder months, but I promise it’s possible. There are a few key-tips to keep in mind for dressing for your engagement session not just in the winter, but in every season.
Specifically for your winter engagement photos, don’t shy away from a long comfy coat — they look real nice in photos. I also definitely recommend layering; a long dress with tights, a flannel with a basic tee underneath, or jeans and your best sweater. All of these options should look great in photos AND keep you nice and warm. Win-win.
As for colors, keep them within the season. Deep jewel/earth tones for fall and winter, brighter tones for spring and summer. There are some colors that always look great together; these are called complimentary colors. Complimentary colors are those that sit *opposite* each other on the color wheel. Some examples of complimentary colors are red and green, orange and blue, and yellow and purple. I know it may seem like those combinations don’t go together, but trust me – they do.

I think the most important thing when photographing your wedding is getting to know you as individuals, and as a couple. Too often, photographers will apply a "one size fits all" approach; but photos and poses that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's my job to adapt to you, not the other way around.
