There is a wedding trend that is becoming popular and I think is here to stay: an NYC elopement at City Hall.
Our very own Michael Marfione (one half of SAVA, you decide which half – the SA or the VA) got hitched at City Hall to earth angel & WNYC Journalist Shumita Basu. This intimate civil ceremony comes just a week before their big day in Florence, Italy. But, let’s start with this.
The whole day was right on brand with most traditionally-New-York things – short, sweet and to the point. For anyone looking to just be married to their person already – but still have a big blowout reception down the road – an NYC City Hall elopement is the way to go. Manhattan as a backdrop never gets old, you get to hail a cab with your bouquet, and still have time to run some errands or stop for pizza.
WHY CHOOSE CITY HALL?
City Hall in New York may not *sound* glamorous, but it is.
The architecture is spectacular for taking wedding day photos, there is plenty of foliage nearby, and it makes for a quick and easy day.
Eloping at New York City Hall is the perfect option for those who have had to reimagine their wedding day; you’ll get chic photos, you’ll get to say “I do,” and you’ll get a big party in the future.
There’s plenty more of these two from their wedding ceremony and reception in Florence.

I'm melissa -- mel, for short. i'm an aries, lover of 60s and 70s music & aesthetics, and i can (probably) quote 90% of breaking bad.
I think the most important thing when photographing your wedding is getting to know you as individuals, and as a couple. Too often, photographers will apply a "one size fits all" approach; but photos and poses that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's my job to adapt to you, not the other way around.
