As a New York wedding photographer, we know a thing or two about some of the best wedding venues in the city & state.
Your wedding venue determines the vibe of your wedding day. When it comes to wedding venues in New York, there are literally *endless* options to ensure you get the one perfect for you. Whether you want the NYC skyline or the Catskills as your backdrop, the venue you choose will help make your wedding day vision a reality. And, being the best wedding photographer in NYC, we’ll be able to share our knowledge of the venues we’ve worked at before. Here are just a few New York wedding venues you should consider.
First on the list is the Bear Mountain Inn – Overlook Lodge. Nestled at the base of Bear Mountain along the Appalachian Trail, the Bear Mountain Inn and Overlook Lodge is the perfect setting for a romantic wedding, surrounded by nature. From the Inn it’s about a 10 minute drive up the mountain where you can get the most breathtaking photos.
Blue Hill at Stone Barns is one of those places you just *need* to visit, even if you’re not holding your wedding there. The farm to table food is absolutely outrageous, and the grounds is stunning. Weddings at Blue Hill at Stone Barns can be hosted in the beautiful HayLoft, which offers soaring ceilings, original stonework and can accommodate up to 260 guests. Ceremonies can be hosted on site, and the outdoor gardens are the perfect site for cocktail hour.
One of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen was at The Briarcliff Manor. When it comes to merging old-world charm with modern elegance, this iconic New York wedding venue does it right. It’s a full service venue, and can accommodate up to 180 guests. Plus, the manor is rumored to have hosted some pretty lavish prohibition-era events as a speakeasy.
The Larchmont Yacht Club is the perfect space for any event, especially a wedding. If you’re a member of the yacht club, I strongly recommend you consider this space as your venue. The staff couldn’t be sweeter, the food is delicious and do you see that gorgeous golden light?? An underrated New York state wedding venue in my opinion.
If you’re wondering why it’s called “Oz Farm,” allow me to enlighten you. Jennifer Oz LeRoy is the owner and event manager of Oz Farm, and is the granddaughter of the director of “The Wizard of Oz.” The venue is just as magical as the movie it’s named after. It boasts mountain views and spans 82 acres. Plus, it’s home to the cutest mini horses ever.
Next on the list is Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Course. This venue lives in Pelham Bay Park, New York’s largest park. It’s home to a wide array of elegant venues, including the 1,800-square-foot art deco Great Room, the glass-enclosed pavilion which can accommodate more than 220 guests, the picturesque gazebo with seasonal flora and a charming stone walkway, and more. A truly beautiful venue, plus the cocktail hour pasta is delicious.
I can’t stress enough how cool this venue is. The indoor reception space of The Roundhouse is absolutely huge and architecturally gorgeous. The outdoor space is perfectly manicured and super fun for portraits. Also, there’s a waterfall! It’s basically perfect for any and everyone. Highly recommend!
This particular New York wedding venue is *huge*. It’s called Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson for a reason. There are so many beautiful spaces at this one venue, we could probably spend 2 full hours exploring. Each venue on the 26-acre campus can be booked for use by itself or in conjunction with other areas of the estate. Overall, Tarrytown House Estate’s 19th century charm is the perfect backdrop for any celebration. Additionally, there’s plenty of space for guests to stay overnight. Also, there’s a delicious restaurant on-site. Such a fun venue for any photographer.
Let me just say: I had one of the best overnight experiences of my life at Troutbeck. Not exaggerating when I say it was the most comfortable and cozy room I’ve ever been in. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into the wedding portion of it all. Troutbeck has a vast variety of event and entertaining possibilities on property. Each wedding is a bespoke, custom-tailored event. When you book with them, you will have exclusive access to the property for a full 24 hours (Saturday at 12pm – Sunday at 12pm).
This list certainly wouldn’t feel complete without mentioning Windham Manor. A beautiful venue that seemingly pulls off the impossible: having a rustic-like charm while still feeling luxurious. The 45-acre property features a beautiful, newly renovated 12 bedroom mansion, accommodating up to 33 overnight guests. Additionally, the property is home to “The Barn.” It’s a stunning, newly-constructed space that can hold 300+ guests for dinner and dancing.
