When I met Louis & Meredith over zoom, there was an immediate click. I mean, when you can bond over your favorite Led Zeppelin songs, you know you’ve reached the right crowd. After our initial convo, the hype for their big day had begun. This is one of the first weddings of the 2024 season and let me just say — this Hudson Valley wedding will stick with me until the end of the year. From the second I arrived until the second after cake was served (aka, when I left), everything was perfect. Here’s how their beautiful March wedding day unfolded.
Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson is a beautiful Hudson Valley wedding venue, for many reasons. There are endless angles, nooks, and crannies for amazing photos. The grounds is sprawling, stunning, and historic. Plus, one of my favorite features: toile. wallpaper. To me, and I’m sure to any photographer, this is one of the highlights.
Sometimes, the room(s) that couples get ready in is a conference suite. Upon hearing this, you may think “ugh, boring.” But let me remind you: FUN WALLPAPER! This makes all the getting ready photos have that extra little oomph. Don’t believe me? Scroll and see for yourself.
The space used for getting ready can double as a pretty good portrait-taking location. The particular room Meredith and her sisters/bridesmaids used had some spectacular views of the Hudson Valley. Rolling hills and water are always beautiful portrait backgrounds. Once you leave the room, there’s a big, winding staircase, another prime spot for photos.
I also want to point out that 99% of the time, the locations I/photographers choose for portraits is influenced by the way the lighting looks. Luckily there are seemingly endless areas around Tarrytown House to choose from. Plus, on this day it was mostly overcast (soft, even lighting), with some golden light peeking through around cocktail hour. The perfect combo, IMO.
For Louis & Meredith’s wedding photography package, they opted to add film photography coverage. I hope this goes without saying, but I am so ecstatic that film is becoming more popular at weddings. When done right, it is effortlessly timeless, and can bring that revered “nostalgic” feeling to your images. The last 29 (annoying it’s not 30, but whatever) images in this gallery are all taken on film. I think they really tie the whole gallery together, and the film-y quality really compliments the historical significance of this beautiful Hudson Valley wedding venue.
Without further ado, enjoy a look into this beautiful wedding day, courtesy of Louis & Meredith.

I think the most important thing when photographing your wedding is getting to know you as individuals, and as a couple. Too often, photographers will apply a "one size fits all" approach; but photos and poses that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's my job to adapt to you, not the other way around.
