I got to know Mary & Mark during their super fun engagement session back in 2023. We went on a food tour of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and photographed some favorite spots of theirs & their families. It became clear that food was a big part of their relationship. Choosing Felina in Ridgewood, New Jersey as their wedding venue was a no-brainer. Let’s dive into the history of this beautiful venue, shall we?
Felina is one of New Jersey’s most celebrated restaurants; the creation of a leading restaurant group, Landmark Hospitality. The airy industrial space houses a restaurant that is both sleek and reflective of the restaurant’s inspired cuisine. The interplay of textures and color bring life and a vibrance that embraces the restaurant’s place in the center of the village of Ridgewood. The design draws inspiration from the former neo-classical bank; high ceilings, exposed brick, well-worn wood, and repurposed steel, ensuring every detail from the ground up has been thoughtfully considered.
The highlight of Mary and Mark’s wedding day was without a doubt the reception. I knew it would be fun, but I was not prepared for just *how* much fun. I’m going to give basically 100% of the credit to the incredible Posh DJs, who made sure the dance floor was going all night. There were sparklers, people dancing on speakers and tables, a saxophone player, you name it. Toward the end of the night, the MC got every table prepared to take photos with the newlyweds. This of course makes my job way easier, too.
I don’t know what it is about bank-turned-wedding-venues, but I’ll be damned if they aren’t charming. The structure of this venue allows for plenty of aerial shots of the reception space, which is always a great option for us photographers. Plus, I can also speak for Mary when I say this, there’s just something about a checkerboard dancefloor.
I’ll quit yapping so you can browse for yourself. Enjoy!
I think the most important thing when photographing your wedding is getting to know you as individuals, and as a couple. Too often, photographers will apply a "one size fits all" approach; but photos and poses that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's my job to adapt to you, not the other way around.
